After joining AwaisLaw DRT, M. Abu-Bakr, very quickly grasped the local legal system both conceptually and practically. He started actively assisting the senior team on important transactions, research and drafting in cases up to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He actively handled matters in connection with Civil Litigation, Taxation, Corporate Clients, Banking Institutions, Company Laws, Commercial Laws, Arbitration/ Mediation, matters pertaining to Anti-Human Trafficking, Cyber-Crime and other areas of law related to Corporate and Commercial Practices during his time as a Senior Associate Awais Law (2015 – 2019). In mid-2019, M. Abu-Bakr started his own legal practise and co-founded A&A-Advocates before joining Awais Law again as a Partner in September 2020.
Mr. Abu-Bakr advised, represented and has worked with some of the leading institutions, locally and internationally, namely, INGREDION, Rafhan Maize Products Co. Ltd, National Bank of Pakistan, Allied Bank Ltd, The Bank of Punjab, Faysal Bank Limited, Diamond Paint Industries (Pvt) Ltd., MCB Bank Ltd, FLSmidth (Pvt.) Ltd – Pakistan, Qadbros Engineering (Pvt) Ltd., Step OilToolz FZE, Lahore Ring Road Authority, Khushhali Microfinance Bank Ltd, responsAbility Investments AG (Switzerland), Shakarganj Food Products Ltd., Tahir Group of Companies (Supreme Aluminium Industries), B.T Exports (Pvt) Ltd, B.T Dairy (Pvt) Ltd, Rukha Pharmaceuticals & Laboratories (Pvt) Ltd., Mian Pharma, Bank of Khyber, Defence Housing Authority, Warm Waters Advisory, AugMentor, Queens Welfare Foundation, Khoosat Films and Olomopolo Productions etc.. He still retains most of the clients/ organisations he has worked with because of his commitment towards the clients and the quality of his work.
Mr. Abu-Bakr has a diverse litigation experience in both trial and appellate forums. He has also served the Lahore High Court Bar Association as Vice-Chairman of the Anti-Terrorism Law Reforms Committee (2019-2020) and as member of the Inter-Provincial Jail Reforms Committee (2019-2020) and as the Deputy-Chairman, Young Lawyers Empowerment Committee (Punjab) of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (2020-2021).
Mr. Abu-Bakr, also, regularly takes up pro-bono work and successfully represents clients before the High Courts and Lower Courts in various matters as an active member of the pro-bono society. He was recognized and published as a key lawyer for AwaisLaw DRT by the Legel 500 in its Asia Pacific edition 2022. Mr. Abu-Bakr is currently serving on the Central Executive Committee of Aitchison College Old Boys Association (ACOBA) as an elected member.
